Council Approves EMA Director Salary Hike

(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Council has approved a request to increase the county Emergency Management Director’s salary.

County commissioner Brian Wenning made a request to increase annual pay to $55,000.

This year’s budgeted salary for the position is $53,650.

The salary increase will need to be added to the budget starting in 2026.

Wenning said Commissioners received 16 applications for the vacant position.

Six candidates were chosen for interviews with all but one participating.

One candidate was identified as the top choice and that person is being extended the offer.

The EMA director’s position has been vacant for the past month since Brad Speer’s departure.

Gary Hash  has been serving as interim director since then.
