(Greensburg, IN) – A Greensburg man has been sentenced in Decatur Superior Court to 20 years in prison on one count of Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 3 felony).
41-year-old Chay Lecher also received a habitual offender sentencing enhancement from Judge Matthew Bailey.
The penalty was handed down following a negotiated plea and sentencing hearing.
Nineteen years of the sentence will be served in prison followed by one year of supervised probation.
Court records show that Lecher was on probation at the time of his arrest, so an additional 400 days in prison was tacked on.
The charges stemmed from Lecher’s arrest on March 6, 2023 following a Decatur County Court Services probation compliance check by the Greensburg Police Department.
Authorities say Lecher was found in possession of several controlled substances, including meth, fentanyl, heroine and morphine.
The State was represented by Decatur County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Doug Brown.
“We are very pleased with the effort shown by Decatur County Court Services, not only in this case, but in continued supervision of our criminal offenders. Director Matt Hoeing and Assistant Director Abby Harry are building a culture of accountability with the offenders that are serving terms of home detention and probation,” Brown said. “We also appreciate the cooperation of the Greensburg Police Department in assisting Court Services on these compliance checks. I am thankful we were able to get a known drug dealer out of the community for a substantial period of time.”
