(Greensburg, IN) – Construction began this week on Decatur County REMC’s (DCREMC) PowerStream Fiber broadband initiative.
Crews from D & H Contracting, Inc. kicked things off by hanging fiber optic lines in Ripley County.
They’ll work their way northwest into Decatur County and progress toward Greensburg.
DCREMC CEO Brett Abplanalp says as crews move through this footprint, members can expect to see activity in both rural and residential areas along the route.
“This is an exciting moment for our members and our entire community,” Abplanalp said. “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to plan, prepare, and position this project for success. Now, we’re shifting into action.”
Residents may notice trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment as installation ramps up.
D&H will be responsible for building out the fiber infrastructure, and their teams will be visible throughout the service territory.
“We want folks to know what to expect,” Abplanalp added. “These crews are here to build something that will benefit all of us, so don’t be alarmed if you see unfamiliar vehicles or personnel working in the area. They’re helping us build the future.”

“PowerStream Fiber is not just about connectivity – it’s about creating opportunity, strengthening local infrastructure, and making sure no one gets left behind in the digital age,” reads a statement from DCREMC.
