Community input needed on survey for skatepark

Batesville, IN — Earlier this month at the Batesville City Council meeting, Dr. Amy Carpenter presented information on one of the newest parks being developed in Batesville, the yet unnamed Batesville skatepark.

In January, Mayor Mike Bettice and the City of Batesville pledged $50,000 of the $400,000 goal for the park as well as entered into a design agreement with Hunger SkateParks. Hunger SkateParks has been enlisted to design the park and is currently seeking community input for the design concept. Dr. Carpenter explained that advocates now are fundraising through private and business donations, as well as are applying for grants to raise the additional funding.

They request that even if you do not skate, please take a moment to fill out the survey as they are also asking questions about designing the surrounding area if funding allows. You can complete the survey as a skateboarder and help with very specific design questions, or you can complete the survey as a community member/non-rider and answer questions about possible other amenities. This is your opportunity to voice your opinion. Current options for surround include a pump track, a bouldering wall, a graffiti/mural board, or possibly an outdoor music area.

Hunger Skateparks will use this information in the design. The survey is open until March 29th at midnight. After which they will host a public input session when the design concept is completed. Click here for the survey.
