(Greendale, IN) – A bus carrying the IU-Indianapolis men’s basketball team caught fire Sunday afternoon close to the Indiana/Ohio border on I-275 near Greendale.
The Jaguars were heading home from their game against NKU when the bus experienced a mechanical issue.
A large plume of smoke could be seen, and the northbound lanes of the interstate had to be shut down while crews put out the fire.
All of the players, coaches and staff safely evacuated the bus.
There were no injuries reported.
Another bus was sent to pick up the team and return them to the IU-Indy campus.
It was double loss for the Jaguars Sunday; the Norse won the basketball game, 71-67.
