Clarence M. “Batch” Batchelor, 88, of Moores Hill passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Batch was born on Monday, January 15, 1934 in Split Rock, Kentucky; son of Perry W. and Dolorice (Workman) Batchelor, Sr. Batch married Norma Sullivan on July 14, 1966 and they enjoyed 55 years together, she preceded him in death on March 10, 2022. Batch was a Boy Scout member from 1943-1946. Batch proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956 as military police and was an Airman 1st Class in the Reserves from 1956-1960. He worked at Thatcher Glass/Anchor Glass for 35 years in the molding shop. Batch was a member of multiple organizations including the Moores Hill EMT, Moores Hill Fire Department assistant chief, Moores Hill American Legion Post #209, Moores Hill City Police in 1978, Dearborn County Reserve Deputy Sheriff in 1983, 40/8 Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars – Aurora Post, and the Korean War Veterans. He was owner/operator of the Batch’s repair shop and enjoyed working on lawn mowers. Batch enjoyed being outside working in his garden. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Batch will be missed by his son Charles Batchelor of Moores Hill; daughters Katheryn (Tony) Starkey of Holton and Rebecca (Danny) Smith of Moores Hill; grandchildren: Brittany Herbert (Vern); Colin Dunn (Selena), Wyatt Starkey (Isabel), Nathan Batchelor (Amber), Sabrina Smith (Noah Lane), and Erica Starkey (Connor); and great-grandson Dakoda Mockbee.
Batch was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Dolorice Batchelor, Sr., wife Norma Batchelor, brothers Perry Jr. Batchelor, Eddie Bender, and Jimmy Knue, sisters Virginia Craigmile and Louis Hughes.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Norma and Clarence “Batch” from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor William Seacrest officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Moores Hill American Legion Post #209 and South Eastern Indiana Honor Guard.
