Cindy Hornbach

Cindy Hornbach, 69 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She was born January 18th, 1955, the daughter of George and Dorothy Lingg Hornbach. She was a lifelong resident of the town of Yorkville.

Cindy helped shape countless lives as a devoted schoolteacher. Cindy graduated from Marian College with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and followed up with her master’s degree from Mount St. Joseph. These academic endeavors positioned her as a 3rd grade teacher at North Dearborn Elementary school for many years. Cindy would also use these skills to share her love of the Catholic faith as a religious education teacher.

This love of the catholic faith made her a staple of the Saint Martin’s campus of the All-Saints Parish. She enthusiastically used her artistic talents to decorate the church, especially on the holidays, which she held in great regard. She was also keen on keeping the grounds and cemetery beautiful.

Personally, Cindy enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She took pleasure in arts and crafts, and often created decorative arrangements out of various knick-knacks. Gifted at the sewing machine, she would fabricate dresses for formal events or alterations for friends and family. Cindy also enjoyed the holidays, making sure every niece and nephew was properly spoiled. Holidays also displayed her exemplary baking skills, satisfying the collective sweet tooth of her 6 brothers.

True to her personality, Cindy always put everyone else’s needs above hers. This trait was never more apparent than as caregiver to her parents. After her parents’ death, she assumed the role of matriarch to the family, serving as the glue that kept her siblings close and sharing her love as a role model to her nieces and nephews.

Cindy will be deeply missed by her siblings Ken (Susan) Hornbach, Tom (Mary) Hornbach, Ron (Connie) Hornbach, Dan (Donna) Hornbach, Joe Hornbach, Dave (Rachael) Hornbach, Connie (Rob) Combs; 13 nieces & 3 nephews; and 12 great nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy Lingg Hornbach; and sister Annette Hornbach.

Visitation for Cindy will be held on Saturday, May 11 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church of All Saints Parish. Rosary will begin at 8:45am followed by visitation at 9:00am until the start of Mass at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. For those unable to attend, Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/aspweeklyhomily. Memorials can be made toward a gift for St. Martin’s Campus or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com
