Chargers Face Rivals in Annual Pheidippides Cup

On a hot and hazy evening at North Branch Golf Course, the North Decatur Charger Cross Country teams hosted county rival South Decatur in the annual Pheidippides Cup winning both races in convincing fashion.

In the girls’ race, Dorothy Robbins led from start to finish with a time of 25:03.  Norah Amberger claimed 2nd place with a time of 26:25 and Brooklyn White finished in 4th with a new PR in 26:54. Taking 6th-10th place were 5 Lady Chargers leading the way with Jessie Biltz 27:50, Ava Lecher 27:59, Olivia Reisman 28:05, Emerson Gunn 28:26, and Jewel Verseman in 29:04.  Junior Lauren Miller ran her season best time in 29:06 and Senior Cecilia Barber, ran her best time of the year in 31:50.

After the conclusion of the race, the team had the opportunity to recognize Cecilia and her parents Donnie and Melanie Barber for her 4 years of dedication to the Cross Country program.

The Chargers ran a tremendous race from start to finish and look to continue their steady improvement as the season moves closer to the midpoint.

North Decatur will return to action on Saturday at the Jac-Cen-Del Invite with a 10:00 start time.
