Carolyn Sue George, 83, Greensburg

Carolyn Sue George, age 83, of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, surrounded by love.

Born on September 8, 1942, in Knightstown, Indiana, Carolyn was the daughter of Berry and Lorena (Rice) Manning. She graduated from Spiceland High School in 1960, and not long after, began her journey as a wife and mother—roles she cherished with all her heart. She married her first husband, Marlin E. Mohler, with whom she shared 18 years and raised their children. Though their paths eventually parted, the love they built through their family endured.

Carolyn later found companionship and joy in her marriage to Roscoe McFarland, with whom she shared 10 years until his passing in 1996. She was again blessed with love when she married Donald George. Their 13 years together were filled with laughter, faith, and a deep bond until his passing in 2018.

Throughout her life, Carolyn worked as a cook in several local restaurants. Her cooking wasn’t just a job—it was a gift she shared with everyone she loved. Known for her delicious meals and warm hospitality, Carolyn made everyone feel at home at her table.

She was a woman of quiet strength and simple joys. She loved to crochet, lose herself in a good novel, and play games on her iPad. But above all else, she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them was boundless.

Carolyn’s life was a testament to resilience, grace, and unconditional love. She had a heart that welcomed all and a spirit that never wavered, no matter the challenges life brought her way.

She is survived by her loving children: Brien Mohler, Janis Jones, Anna (Timothy) Flack, and Tony (Holly) Mohler; her treasured grandchildren: Scott Dillback, Austin Lynch, Chelsea Lynch, Wesley Mohler, Brooke Roberts, Brandon Loper, Courtney O’Brien, Amanda Flack, Adam Flack, McKenzie Schwartz, and Olivia Mohler; and many great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Also surviving are her dear siblings: Butch Manning, Dale (Carolyn) Manning, Don (Patricia) Manning, Deborah (Randall) Black, and Marsha (Mike) Redmon; sister-in-law Carol Manning; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Dean Mohler; her three husbands—Marlin E. Mohler, Roscoe McFarland, and Donald George; her sons-in-law, Mike Wicker and Steven Jones; and her brothers, Melvin Manning and Larry (Sharon) Manning.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the love she gave so freely.

Carolyn’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was deeply devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she carried His love in her heart every day. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in all who knew her.
