Carole Ritzi, 78 years old, of St. Leon, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022. Carole grew up on a farm, helped with the chores and her younger siblings. She married Maurice Ritzi on May 4, 1963, had 2 daughters, and was a stay-at-home mom. Going for convertible rides with Maury in his 1961 Ford Sunliner was what Carole and her daughters did for fun on weekends. After losing the love of her life in 1987, she had to become very independent. She learned how to drive and had several jobs, including a Bookkeeper at Kleckner Auto Repair, a Licensed Insurance Agent for Primerica, and janitor at Bright Elementary School. However, babysitting her grandchildren was her passion. Carole was a woman of many talents and enjoyed sewing, designing wedding floral arrangements, and various crafts. Carole was known for making the best German potato salad. Other family favorites were her jello cream salad and sugar cookies. Carole took pleasure in dining out when the chance arose. She would almost always order steak well done, “I don’t want it mooing,” she would say. Carole loved being outside tending to her flowers and garden. She collected lighthouses and liked to travel to see them. One of Carole’s favorite places to visit was the Smoky Mountains. She enjoyed doing puzzles, spending time with family and friends, and playing the family card game, “May I.”
Carole will be deeply missed by her children Debbie Ritzi of West Harrison and Deanna (Ritzi) Lohrum (Mike Wiltsey) of Sunman; grandchildren Karrisa (Shaun) Simpson, Matthew (Tatyana) Hamilton, Corey (Denee) Lecher, Trisha (Jeff) Schoenberger, Miranda (Robbie) Tieman; great-grandchildren Parker, Oliver, Piper, Zadora, Seraphina, Skyler and Cameron; siblings Richard (Colleen) Singer, Kathy (Doug) Goldkamp, Donna Baas, Sharon (Phil) Neumeier, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Maury, her parents Florence and John Singer, her brother, Bob Singer, and brother-in-law, Darrel Baas.
