Carl Joseph Moorman, 91, Greensburg

Carl Joseph Moorman, 91, of Decatur County, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 26, 1933, on the family farm in Decatur County, Carl spent his entire life in the place he loved. He was the son of Louis and Theresia (Menkedick) Moorman. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army, returning to his roots after his service to continue farming the land.

On October 26, 1960, Carl married the love of his life, Eileen S. Nobbe, and together they raised a beautiful family. Carl was a dedicated father and grandfather, taking immense joy in family gatherings and time spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved giving the grandkids tractor rides, a cherished memory for them all.

In addition to farming, Carl drove a school bus for over 20 years, making lasting impressions on the many children he served. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of St. John, and a retired Marion Township Volunteer Firefighter. Carl enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including dancing and playing cards—whether it was euchre, poker, solo, or anything else, he found joy in the company of others. His love of sweets, especially cookies and pies, was well known to those around him.

Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; children, Joe (Valorie) Moorman, Tom (Beth) Moorman, Gene (Jennifer) Moorman, Linda (Ron) Eckel, Carol (Sam) Koester, and Donna (Joe) Johannigman; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his infant son, Allan Moorman.

Family and friends will gather to pray the rosary on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 3:30 PM at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, with visitation following from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial and military honors will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Mary Hospice or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Carl’s legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
