The St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball team started their season off onthe road against St. Paul’s this past Tuesday November 1st.
After a few minutes of play the Cardinals were able to find some rhythm and secure acomfortable halftime lead. The second half continued in favor of St. Louis as the team played a tenacious defense that sealed the win.
Although St. Paul’s had enough big men to contend with the St. Louis rebounders Abe Streator and Joseph Suttman were able to control the boards and feed the hustling trio of Thomas Raver, Adam Vogelsang and Cody Mohr providing formost of the points that were scored in transition. The young men only had a day off before going back on the road to play Jac Cen Del.
The Cardinals Mohr and Vogelsang had more fast break opportunities and Streator and Suttman controlled the rebounds once again and were able to attain a slim lead during the first half but trailed at halftime by 2.
The second half intensity was high for both teams but St. Louis was not able to match a few big shots that fell for the young Eagles.Thomas Raver had a good breakout game and was high scorer despite fending off several double and triple team defenses.
At the final buzzer the Cardinals trailed by nine to the more experienced and well coached team.
