The 8th Grade STL Cardinals from St. Louis took on the Wildcats from Franklin County in Brookville on Thursday, December 3rd. The Cardinals were able to get off to a great start in the first half leading by a score of 14 to 4 by playing stingy defense. In the second half, the Wildcats mounted a comeback and were able to pull off the victory by a score of 22-20.
The Cardinals were led in scoring by Adam Meer with 8 points which is a career-high. Henry Wanstrath and Ryan Duerstock had 3 points each, while Christian Mack, Max Amberger, and Sully Hill each had 2 points. Meer also led the team in rebounding with 9 while Mark Meneses had 7 rebounds. Wanstrath led the team in steals with 5, while Meneses recorded 3.
The Cardinals next game is against St. Nicholas with the game being played at Oldenburg Academy on Monday, December 7th.

The St. Louis 7th Grade Cardinals traveled to Franklin County for their second match-up. The boys took home the victory with a final score of 46-22 with every player scoring points.
Caleb Mohr with 21 pts, Jaiden Kuria with 10 pts, Nash King with 7 pts, Vincent Meneses and Tyler Reder with 3 pts each, Sam Richardson, Noah Livers, and Jack Freeland all bringing 2 pts each. These boys played a solid game on defense holding them to minimal points. The boys all grabbed rebounds on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Jaiden had 6 solid blocks for us to keep their big guy from scoring underneath.
The other boys did a great job of trapping and working together to shut down the outside perimeter area. Together teamwork made the win possible. Nice job.

The St. Louis 6th Grade Boys Basketball team overpowered Laurel 44-11 with a stifling defense. They jumped out to a 15-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
Leading the scoring attack was David Koch with thirteen points followed closely by Adam Weber with ten points. Augie Hillenbrand scored nine points and Griffin Koester had eight points. Owen Hermesch and Rylan Yeager each scored two points for the Cardinals.
The win brings the Cardinals record to 5-2 on the season with three games left.

The 5th Grade St Louis Cardinals were victorious on their 1st game after the Thanksgiving Break vs Laurel Yellow Jackets, Dec 3rd at the St Louis Activity Center 32-6.
The Cardinals jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead at the end of the half. The 2nd half saw a continued effort on defense where they held the visitors to no points for the half and finished the game with the win 32 to 6.
St. Louis was led in scoring by Sam Dice with 12 points and Andrew King with 11 points. Others in the scoring column were Ray Walke with 4, Calvin Padgett with 3, and Grant Wanstrath chipped in 2 points. The Cardinals brought a strong effort on defense and saw a great effort in finding the open man as there were many assists allowing multiple shot attempts. The team played strong defense being led by King, Caleb Harmeyer, and Damien Brelage anchoring the team.
This improves the 5th Grade record to 6 wins against 2 losses. The Cardinals get back in action on December 7th vs St Nicholas at the St Louis Activity Center.
