Campground to bring new life to area with new ownership

Kevin Wang, center, is the newest owner of the former Browning’s Campground

Dillsboro, IN — Ripley County will have even more opportunity to be a tourist destination in the future. A big announcement was made at the campground formerly known as Browning’s Campground on Tuesday.

Kevin Wang has officially taken over the property as the newest owner and is excited to renovate and restore the site to its former glory, and beyond. The campground, now named Wheelock Lake Campground, after former General Eleazer Ripley Wheelock, a war hero in the war of 1812 and the namesake for Ripley County.

Wang stated he has big plans for the area to make it a tourist attraction for the tri-state area. Those plans include a possible sand beach, zip lines, cabins, a new restaurant, and more.  According to Wang, the history of the Browning family will also be a part of the renovation.

Wang says the first phase has already started which is to clean up the area.
