Burton Leslie “Burt” Storey, 83, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
He was born February 7, 1939, son of the late Harry D. Storey and Anna (Pindell) Storey at Milan hospital, and he was raised in Kyle where he finished out his days living in his childhood home.
Burt worked as a Boilermaker retiring after many years of service.
He was a member of the Church on Fire, Masonic Lodge of Aurora, the Eagles Lodge and he was also a Shriner.
Burt loved playing golf. He was considered a pool shark. He loved motorcycle riding, especially on his “Fat Boy”. Burt enjoyed gardening and yard work. He loved all animals, especially his dog; but he was affectionately known as the “Bird Man”, having several exotic birds, including a Cockatoo, a Panama, and a Blue Front Amazon. He was fun loving and loved Gospel music. He and his family sang together, with Burt being the Tenor of the group. He also loved playing his Banjo. He loved his family and his family homestead, and he will be missed by all.
Burt is survived by his loving spouse, Leslee (Cauvin) Storey, children, Leslie Burgess of GA, Jim Lee of Greensburg, IN; step-daughter, Shawn Jones of Oxford, OH; siblings, Audrey (Tom) Lameier of North Bend, OH, Robert (Sandy) Storey of Newland, NC; grandchildren, Wolfgang Burgess, Katy Burgess, Logan Jones, Kyndall Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna; siblings, Elner Slaughter, Earl Storey, Darlene Turner, LeRoy Storey, Paul Storey.
Friends will be received Friday, January 20, 2023, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 pm with Pastor Doug Combs officiating.
