Bulldogs Win Greensburg CC Meet

The Batesville Bulldog Cross Country teams traveled just down the road to Greensburg tonight to finish out their regular season as the Pirates hosted a 10 team invitational. As the evening progressed, the cooler air kept moving in and gave the kids a much more pleasant atmosphere to race in than they have had lately.  Batesville took advantage of this and both came home with the championship trophies.

The boys scored a very low 24 points beating the rest of the field by double as Greensburg came in 2nd with 48.  East Central was 3rd at 95, Connersville 4th at 108 and finishing out the top 5 boys team results were Franklin County at 125. The Batesville boys were led by senior, Joshua Myers who took the individual championship honors at 17:06.  He was followed closely by teammate Adam Moster-2nd (17:10) and Ean Loichinger-3rd (17:25).  The Bulldogs almost had the top 4 spots as Benjamin Moster was fighting to win that position and just missed it coming in 5th by about .3 seconds (17:48). Daren Smith was the 5th Bulldog to cross the line in 13th place with Dillon Murray 15th.  Finishing out the top 20 and receiving an award was Luke Esser in 20th.

The girls ran just as well, ahead of Greensburg 32-56.  Franklin County took 3rd place at 91, East Central 4th-98 and North Decatur took the last awards spot in 5th at 130. The Lady Bulldogs were led by sophomore Lily Pinckley capturing 1st at 20:07. Teammate Ava Hanson followed closely behind her taking the 2nd place spot (20:14). Maria Lopez and Trysta Vierling crossed the line in 8th and 9th.  3 more Bulldogs came in the top 20 one right after another and they were Katie Olsen, Carley Pride and Sarah Ripperger in spots 15, 16 and 17 respectively. So, for the both the boys and the girls varsity squad for tonight placed all 7 of runners in the top 20 of the meet.  Way to go dogs!

Although the JV meet was not scored as a team, there were individual ribbons given to the top 10 of the JV.  The Batesville boys had 7 in this top ten with Nathan Villani leading the way in 1st.  Alex Livers took 2nd, Charlie Laymon-3rd, Luke Nuhring and Will Nuhring-4th and 5th, Kasin Hughes-6th and Landon Gutzwiller 9th.  The girls had all 4 JV runners place in the top 10 with Jada Eisert winning it. Hope Kroen placed 4th, Carla Patapat-5th, and Alyssa Linville-7th.  Congratulations to all!

Next step…Sectionals!  The tournament starts next Saturday at 9:30 at Moores Hill Elementary school hosted by South Dearborn. Good Luck Dogs!
