Some of the Batesville Bulldog Track Team traveled to Lawrence Central High School on Saturday to participate in the Midwest Meet Prep Meet.
This meet was by invitation only. Athletes had to pre-qualify to be able to participate in this meet by hitting certain standards in each event. This year was one of the highest participating number events for the Bulldogs. It gave them to opportunity to compete against top athletes in each event. There were over 700 athletes, 33 schools participating in the female events and 32 schools in the male events.
Those that participated for Batesville and their events were: 100m dash-Sophie Meadows, Stephanie Nobbe, Zach Mears; 200m dash-Sophie Meadows, Stephanie Nobbe, John Moody, Jacob Koehne; 110m hurdles-Garrett Wagner; 300m hurdles-Clare Bruns, Garrett Wagner; 400m dash-Haylee Harmeyer, Madeliene Robben, John Moody; 800m run-Connor Bell; 1600m run-Sarah Poltrack, Emma Gausman, Caleb Moster; 3200m run-Mary Poltrack, Caleb Moster; High Jump-Morgan Meyer; Long Jump-Stephanie Nobbe; Shot Put-Samantha Heidlage
Discus-Samantha Heidlage; 4 x 100 Teams of Clare Bruns, Sophie Meadows, Morgan Meyer, Stephanie Nobbe and Garrett Wagner, Jacob Koehne, CJ Thomas, Zach Mears; 4 x 400 Team of Clare Bruns, Madeleine Robben, Sarah Poltrack, Haylee Harmeyer ; and the 4 x 800 Teams of Sarah Poltrack, Emma Gausman, Madeleine Robben, Mary Poltrack and Caleb Moster, Ian Yorn, Clay Yeaton and Quinten Gowdy.
The meet started out with the lady Bulldog 4 x 800 team running an awesome race, just 1 second behind the school record and coming in meet runner-up. Three girls ran a personal best 800 split best. Sarah (2:27.8), Emma (2:30.2) and Madeleine (2:34.2)
with their final time at 10:06.58. Sarah Poltrack and Emma Gausman also earned medals in the 1600m run placing 5 and 6 respectively at 5:28.22 and 5:30.96. Also bringing home a medal was Connor Bell placing 4th place in the 800m run, just a second off his PR at 2:01.85.
Many other dogs ran personal bests at this meet and they were: Caleb Moster, Ian Yorn, Clay Yeaton and Quinten Gowdy on their 800m split of the 4 x 800m relay
Caleb Moster in the 1600m run; Sarah Poltrack on her 400m split of the 4 x 400m relay; John Moody in the 400m dash; Both the girls and the boys 4 x 100m relay.
Congratulations to all that earned the spot to participate in this meet. You represented Batesville High School well!
The Dogs’ next meet is Tuesday at home where they will host the East Central Trojans. Field Events begin at 5pm.
