The Batesville High School men’s swim program capped out their season at Columbus North High School over the weekend. On Thursday evening eight bulldogs swam their hearts out for the chance to swim on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Emi Lopez was the lone qualifier for individual events, qualifying for the consolation final in arguably the hardest races to compete in at Sectional 17. The 50 and 100 Freestyle.
“After battling some injuries the last two years, we were so proud to see Emi representing us as an individual. While we celebrate team accomplishments throughout the season, watching someone perform at their best when it matters the most is what puts the icing on the cake.”
The gentlemen also placed 9th in the two freestyle relays in the competition, finishing 10th in the Medley. Overall the boys finished in 10th place on five swims.
While Lopez’s individual swims may have been the icing on the cake, the cherry came from the level at which the Batesville crew came to compete. Of the 18 entries throughout the weekend, 16 swims were personal best times.
