Bulldogs Softball Loses to Spartans

The Batesville Lady Bulldog Softball team was defeated last night by Connersville by a score of 3-13.

Connersville scored 1 in the 1st, 3 in the 3rd, 6 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th. Batesville’s first run came in the 3rd inning when Main (running for Westerfeld) scored of a base hit by Laker. Westerfeld had reached a couple outs earlier in the inning when she hit a triple to right field. The Bulldog’s second run came when Oldham scored off a Garcia double to center in the 4th inning. Laker scored the third run off a single by Obermeyer in the 5th.

The Bulldogs finished with 8 hits in the game: Laker (2), Obermeyer (2), Garcia (2 with a double), Burkhart, and Westerfeld (triple). In pitching – Westerfeld ended the game with 2 strikeouts and a walk, Oldham finished with 3 strikeouts and a walk. Cornn finished the game with 6 putouts, while Laker ended 5. Huffner finished with 5 assists.

As a team, we ended the game with a .296 batting average; however, we committed defensive 6 errors which just makes it tough to recover from on the offensive side. We hit the ball much better today, just not enough in a row, or in any one inning.

Next up – another conference game versus South Dearborn tonight at home with a game time of 5:30.
