The Batesville Bulldogs JV Baseball team won in convincing fashion as they beat the Greensburg Pirates by a score of 24-1 on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs were led both offensively and defensively by sophomore Clay Grunkemeyer who threw just 32 pitches in 3 innings of work not allowing an earned run. He also drove in 5 runs. The Bulldogs were also led by Lleyton Ratcliffe who went 3-3 with a walk and drove in three. Brayden Linkel, Seth Gausman, Drew Kiefer, Riley Zink, and Nate Eckstein each added a pair of RBI’s a piece. All in all the Bulldogs accumulated 14 hits, walked 7 times, and only struck out twice. As mentioned before Clay Grunkemeyer toed the rubber and got his second win of the season, he is now 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Drew Kiefer saw his first action of the season on the mound pitching two scoreless innings of relief and struck out three of the nine batters he faced.
The Bulldogs look to continue the winning trend when they play the North Decatur Chargers on Saturday at Liberty Park after the Varsity game at 11:30 a.m.
