The Batesville Freshman Boys Basketball team lost to both Milan and Plainfield on Saturday. The first game against Milan was close up until the end, but Milan managed to close out the game and win by 3 when Seth Gausman failed to connect on a three pointer to tie the game with just a few seconds left on the clock.
Milan got out to an early 7-4 lead after the first quarter. They then extended that lead to 5 going into halftime with a score of 20-15. Batesville came out strong after the half and tied the game at 25 by the end of the 3rd quarter. It wasn’t enough, however, as Milan did a great job closing out the game down the stretch. Batesville was led by Seth Gausman with 8, followed by 7 from Charlie Dice.
The Bulldogs played a double header and faced Plainfield that same evening. The game started out close with a 1st quarter score of 11-8 in Plainfield’s favor. Once the second quarter started, Plainfield took a commanding lead, heading into halftime with a score of 31-14 and continued to stay in control throughout the game. By the end of the 3rd quarter, it was 42 – 17. The final score was 48 – 23. The Bulldogs were led by Seth Gausman with 8 points and John Thompson with 7.
Their next game is Monday, December 12th vs Jennings County at Batesville High School.
