The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Greensburg came out on top against Batesville, 7-6.
In the first inning, Greensburg got their offense started when Toby Brogan doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
After Batesville scored one run in the top of the third, Greensburg answered with one of their own. The Bulldogs scored when Trey Peters singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Greensburg then answered when David Blankman doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Greensburg pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Cam Adams singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Blankman singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Adams took the win for Greensburg. He surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out three and walking one.
Nate Eckstein took the loss for the Bulldogs. He allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, walking one.
Cade Reynolds started the game for Greensburg. He allowed five hits and five runs over four innings, striking out three. Casey Werner started the game for Batesville. He lasted two innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out two
Batesville socked one home run on the day as Sam Voegele went yard in the seventh inning.
Brayden Linkel, Peters, Seth Gausman, Voegele, Trey Heidlage and Caleb Raab each collected one hit to lead the Bulldogs.
After the loss, the Bulldogs are 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the EIAC. Batesville will take on Milan on Tuesday.
