Bulldogs EIAC Wrestling Results-Trojans Claim Championship

Batesville Wrestling traveled to South Dearborn this weekend to compete against 7 other teams in the EIAC tournament. 11 Bulldogs competed with 9 placings and 4 finishing in the top 3. Despite the individual effort, the Bulldogs finished 7th just 1 point shy of 6th.

The Bulldogs highest finisher of the day was Sophomore Josh Mobley at 152 with a second-place finish. Mobley had one forfeit and a 13-4 major decision victory that led him to the finals where he lost to the eventual Conference MVP Bryar Hall who is also currently ranked 3rd in the state. 

The Bulldogs had three individuals place 3rd. Sophomore Alex Murphy went 3-1 with one pin, one tech fall, and a forfeit victory. Senior JT Linkel also when 3-1 with all 3 coming by pin moving him up to 28 pins setting a new record for pins in a season. Senior Axel Garcia also had a 3-1 record. Garcia had 1 pin and 2 decision victories. 

5 other Bulldogs placed on the weekend. Christian Garcia had a 5th place finish with a 2-2 record with 2 major decisions. Caleb Bischoff-Niese, Jonathan Lamping, Jonathan Schrank, and Brandon Manning each had 1 win on their way to finishing 6th.

The Bulldogs will end their regular season Tuesday hosting Indiana School for the Deaf, this will also be the bulldogs senior night.
