Batesville had no trouble on offense today, winning big over Rushville 10-2.
The Bulldogs got things moving in the first inning when Batesville scored one run when Trey Peters doubled. The Bulldogs scored four total runs in the first.
Batesville tallied on four more runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by the Bulldogs was led by Zach Wade and Max Baumer, who all drove in runs.
Riley Zink earned the win for the Bulldogs. Zink allowed zero hits and two runs over five innings, striking out 14. Habig threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen and had five strikeouts.
Howard took the loss for The Lions. He went three innings, allowing six runs on five hits.
The Bulldogs had nine hits in the game. Baumer and Travis Lecher each had two hits to lead the Bulldogs.
Batesville is now 15-4, has won nine straight, and is alone in 1st place in the EIAC with a 7-2 conference record. The Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways, as they play The Lions again on Friday.
The Batesville Bulldogs sailed to an easy victory over The Rushville Lions 12-1 on Friday in the second EIAC conference meeting of the week.
Batesville got things started in the first inning when Riley Zink singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The Bulldogs were able to get five across in the first inning.
Jacob Meer earned the victory on the hill for the Bulldogs. The righty lasted the complete game five innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out six.
The pitcher for Rushville lasted three innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out two and walking zero.
The Bulldogs collected 13 hits. Zach Wade, Travis Lecher, Zink, Will Sherwood, each had multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Lecher and Wade each managed three hits for Batesville.
Batesville has now won ten games in a row, is ranked #8 in 3A, and has a 16-4 overall record. The Bulldogs are also on top alone in the EIAC with an 8-2 record. The Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways tomorrow while celebrating 100 Years of Baseball at Liberty Park as they play the EIAC rival, Greensburg Pirates.
