Congratulations to the Batesville Bulldog Boys 3rd Grade Basketball Team………..2016’ Dirt Road Basketball League Champions!
The team (14-4) won two close games yesterday to claim the title. Jacob Stenger hit a field goal in sudden death for the victory over Milan to claim the crown.
In other DRBL Final Four Action:
The 4th Grade Bulldogs (16-2) lost to Richmond in the championship game, 45-26. Jack Grunkemeyer led the team with 8 points and 4 assists. Chris Lewis added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Conner Drake chipped in 4 points.
In the semi-final contest the Bulldogs defeated Connersville 35-24. Chris Lewis had 13 points. Gus Prickel had 5 points and 4 assists. Jack Grunkemeyer tallied 5 rebounds. Great job Bulldogs, as their only 2 defeats on the campaign were to a solid Richmond squad! The team will next be in action in the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association State Tournament the weekend of February 6th in Milan.
The 5th Grade squad (14-4) lost in the championship game to Greensburg, after a valiant effort to defeat the number one seed New Castle Trojans.
The 6th Grade squad (13-5) defeated Richmond to get to the Final Four yesterday, before falling short by 6 points to undefeated Greensburg in the Semi-Final.
Great season to all the up and coming Bulldogs! As you can see Batesville………. The basketball program’s future looks very bright!
