Batesville Bulldogs Beat Rising Sun, 5-2 in Game one On Saturday, April 1st, Batesville traveled to Rising Sun for a double header and beat the Shiners 5-2 in game one to open up their season.
Batesville senior, Alex Roell, earned the win for the Bulldogs. He went six innings, allowing two runs, nine hits, striking out three, and walking zero. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh, Batesville Junior, Zack Blomer, entered the game to pitch and recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Bulldogs. Blomer struck out the first hitter, then got the second hitter to line-out into a double play to end the game. Turner took the loss for Rising Sun. He pitched six innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, and striking out four.
The Bulldogs had eight hits in the game. Senior, Zach Britton had two hits (a triple and a single)and, junior, Joe Bohman collected two singles for Batesville. Britton also had three RBIs. Trey Heidlage, Quinn Werner, Caleb Raab, and Blomer all added one hit for the Bulldogs. Heidlage scored two runs, while Werner, Blomer, and Lane Oesterling each scored one.

Both teams were strong on the mound during game two on Saturday, but the Bulldogs defeated Rising Sun 3-1. The starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, Sophomore, Lane Oesterling, allowed just five hits to Rising Sun.
Batesville took an early lead in the first inning when the pitcher for Rising Sun threw a wild pitch, resulting in one run for the Bulldogs.
Oesterling earned the win for Batesville. He tossed a complete game, giving up one run, five hits, and striking out five. Jimenez took the loss for Rising Sun. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, and striking out six.
The Bulldogs had seven hits in the game. Sophomores, Oesterling and Trey Heidlage each collected multiple hits for Batesville, while Zach Britton, Quinn Werner, and Joe Bohman each had one. Britton also had two walks in the game.
The Batesville Bulldogs have their home opener at Liberty Park this Tuesday at 5:30 vs. the seventh ranked New Palestine Dragons.
