The 8th-Grade Batesville Bulldogs Boys’ Basketball team were crowned SEI Tournament Champs on Thursday night after defeating Greendale by a final score of 42-30.
Greendale handed Batesville their only loss of the season earlier in the year and the Bulldogs sought redemption. Batesville was able to get off to a hot start by taking a 9-0 lead. Greendale fought back and closed the gap to 9-7 before Will Jaisle hit a deep 3 at the buzzer to take a 5 point lead heading into the second quarter. Batesville carried that momentum into the second quarter and played great team basketball on both sides of the floor to have a 22-15 lead heading into half time. Both teams battled back and forth all night, but Batesville showed composure and iced the game with free throws late in the fourth quarter.
Leading all scorers was Cade Kaiser with 24 points, followed by Carson Schneider (6), Gage Pohlman (4), Will Jaisle (3), Jacob Stenger (3), and Grant Goldsmith (2).
Congratulations to the Batesville Bulldogs 8th grade basketball team on a 12-1 season and ending the season as SEI Champions!

Greendale got out to a good start leading at the break 18-11. Batesville couldn’t find a rhythm until the 4th quarter where they scored 22. Unfortunately, it was a little too late.

The 5/6th Grade Girls of St. Louis opened their season up against The St. Micheal’s Lady Trojans. The 5th Grade hosted and got the win 6-3.
Scoring for SLS was Madi Dierckman with 4 pts and Sophia Leising with 2 pts. Jersey Trenkamp had 1 assist. These girls played some tough defense against some very tall girls. We were able to cause turnovers to keep the ball from the inside.
Ladies, very nice work and keep pushing and working as a team. Nice job Cards!

The St. Louis Lady Cardinals 6th Graders opened their season Thursday, January 21st with a victory over St. Michael’s 12-4.
The 6th Grade was a little short-handed as we only had two girls that we’re able to play but thankfully the 5th graders were able to pull double duty and help the 6th grade out. The 6th-grade team played hard defense all game holding St Michael’s to only 4 points. The Lady Cardinals were led in scoring by 1 of our 6th graders Gina Grote who scored 4 of her game-high 6 points in the first half. The score at halftime was 6-2, St. Louis. The good defense continued into the second half and the 5th graders really helped to seal the game. Madi Dierckman added 4 points and Ava Becker had 2 points. Riley Siegel (our other 6th grader) did not score a basket but I thought she played one of the best games. She played great defense and collected many defensive rebounds.
The next game for the 5th and 6th grade Lady Cardinals will be Tuesday, February 2nd vs St. Mary’s of Aurora.
