Batesville High School wrestling continue their season traveling to Rushville to compete in their 5-way that included Greensburg, Connersville, and Centerville. Despite still having holes in their line up the Bulldogs went 2-2 with one wrestler going 4-0 and every wrestler getting a win.
Batesville started the day with a regional opponent and eventual invite champs Centerville. Batesville battled with many cole match but were only able to come away with 2 wins in a 64-12 defeat. JT Linkel (145) and Aaron Norman (195) both won with pinfall victories.
Batesville next wrestled EIAC rivals Greensburg in a competitive dual. Batesville won 5 out of 8 matches wrestled while receiving 3 forfeits. Alex Murphy (113), Tyler Schaeffer (132), and Jonathan Schrank (138) each received forfeits. JT Linkel (152), Josh Mobley (160), Jy’lil Chappel (182) and Brandon Manning(285) all one by pin. Axel Garcia (170) also won by Decision. The final score was 45-30 with Batesville picking up their first victory of the season.
Batesville next faced EIAC opponent Connersville and wrestled their best dual of the season winning 7 out of 8 matches wrestled. Batesville had 5 pins, 2 decisions, and 2 forfeit victories. Getting pins were Alex Murphy (113), Tyler Schaeffer(132), Jonathan Schrank (138), JT Linkel (145), and Aaron Norman (195). Caleb Bischoff-Niece(120) won 13-11 while Josh Mobley won 6-1 in overtime. Axel Garcia (170) and Jy’lil Chappel (182) received forfeits helping to a 42-30 victory.
Batesville closed the day against Rushville not quite keeping up with last week’s score. Batesville was able to get 5 6 point victories. JT Linkel and Josh Mobley both picked up pins. Aaron Norman and Brandon Manning each received forfeits. Alex Murphy ended the dual with an injury default victory lead to a 351-30 team score.
The Bulldogs were able to finish 2-2. JT Linkel went 4-0 with 4 pins on his way to winning the 145-pound weight class. With his 4th pin, JT’s career pins moved up to 66 tieing him with Mike Dailey for 2nd in career pins for Batesville leaving him 1 pin shy of the number one spot. Going 3-1 on the day were Alex Murphy, Josh Mobley, and Aaron Norman.
Batesville will next host Franklin County Tuesday in a dual.
