Bruins Win CYO Basketball Games

cyoSt. Louis-1 started the new year off with a come from behind win over St. Mary’s-1 40-36.

St. Louis fell behind early as they trailed 17-9 after the 1st quarter. With a long layoff between games I was sure how we would play. Give St. Louis credit as they kept battling. It wasn’t until late in the 3rd quarter that St. Louis would get the lead, but St. Mary’s-1 would regain the lead heading into the end the 4th quarter leading 27-26. For about the first 4 to 5 minutes in the 4th quarter the lead would change several times until St. Louis was able to get the lead and hold to get the win.

‘This was a team effort and I was proud of the way we kept battling.’  Bruins Coach Roger Dietz.

Bruins Scoring.  Anthony Butz 9, Sam Bedel 6, Alex Roell 6, Cooper Williams 4, Evan Straber 4, Caleb Moster 4, Paul Ritter 3, Nick Tekulve 2,  Nathan Batta 2.

St. Louis-2 jumped out to an early 1st quarter lead of 21-7 and never looked back winning 68-45. Our defense set the tone for the game as it led to some easy baskets. St. Louis stretched its lead to 18 at half. This was a team effort as we were able to get scoring from almost everyone on the team.
