(Brookville, IN) – A Brookville woman has been formally charged with Murder in the shooting death of her brother last week.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Crystal Pence allegedly told Brookville police officers and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies when they arrived at the scene around 1:40 a.m. on Thursday at Riverfront Apartments on Fairfield Avenue that she shot her brother 32-year-old Ronald Pence in the chest because he wanted her to shoot him.
Those documents indicate that the brother and sister had been out drinking at several Brookville bars and that Ronald Pence was having suicidal thoughts.
Crystal Pence told investigators that when they returned to her apartment, Ronald loaded a gun, handed it to her, and told her to shoot him.
Crystal is being held without bond in the Franklin County Security Center.
No court dates have been scheduled but Franklin County Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp expects the initial hearing will be held sometime this week.
The investigation by Indiana State Police into the deadly shooting continues.
