Laurel, In. — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Fish & Wildlife and the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH) will hold a public meeting to update area landowners, cattle farmers, hunters, and any other interested parties about the status of local bovine tuberculosis (bTB) management. The meeting will be held at the Laurel Public Library on January 15 at 6 p.m.
Bovine tuberculosis is a chronic bacterial disease that affects primarily cattle, but can be transmitted to any mammal. The disease can result in significant negative economic impact.
DNR staff will present future plans for continued bTB eradication efforts. BOAH staff will provide an update on the current status of bTB management in cattle in the area.
Landowners, hunters and cattle farmers are recommended to attend.
