(Southern IN) – Ripley, Franklin and Dearborn counties are among 40 in the southern part of the state approved by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to hold a bobcat trapping season.
The decision has faced opposition from animal rights activists.
The trapping season will have a statewide quota of 250 bobcats, with each trapper limited to one catch per year.
The season will run from November to January, and allow the sale of bobcat furs and parts under specific conditions.
State lawmakers mandated that DNR establish a bobcat trapping season during last year’s legislative session.
