Bobby Ray Kilgore, 91 passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his home in Greensburg with his family by his side. Born December 16, 1931 in Imboden, Virginia, he was the son of Albert Newton and Polly (Johnson) Kilgore.
Bobby retired from the military. He spent six years in the Army, which included Korea during the Korean War. He was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism. He then spent 15 years in the Air Force and ten years in the Air Force Reserve. After his military service, he worked for International Harvester until his retirement in 1994.
He married Mary Ellen Roberts on November 6, 1953, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons: Bobby Earl Kilgore, Plainfield, and Donny Ray (Janie) Kilgore, Greensburg; two daughters: Barbara June (Stephen) Klotzbach, Abilene, Kansas and Deborah Lois Potter, Greensburg; one brother, John Kilgore, Big Stone Gap, Virginia; one sister, Eva Marie Loveland, Climax, Michigan; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Visitation will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by military graveside services at 1:00 p.m. at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
