The Batesville Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Milan for the Ripley County meet against South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del, and Milan. The boys team dominated the field by placing Bulldogs in the first 11 spots with 6th grader Cael Luhman coming away with the championship. Varsity members making the All-County Team with Luhman were Levi Essick in 2nd place, Jasper Johnson in 3rd, Abe Trossman in 4th, Ryan Benz 5th, Wyatt Essick 6th, and Hank Bohman in 7th. Batesville was the only school with a full boys team, giving them the team championship, as well.
The Lady Bulldogs also had a perfect score with all 7 varsity runners taking the first 7 places. Ava Wade once again came away with the win. Joining Wade on the All-County team were Bailey Feldmann in 2nd place, Elia Wade in 3rd, Maycee Holtkamp in 4th, Jayla Bedel in 5th, Hilary Ziegler 6th, and Rosie Gilland in 7th. Batesville had a perfect team score of 15 while South Ripley took 2nd with 60 points and Jac-Cen-Del placed 3rd with 65. Milan was incomplete.
This concludes the season for most of the BMS runners, but 20 runners will be participating in Saturday’s state meet.
