BMS Boys Basketball Takes Part in Inaugural South Dearborn Invitational

In middle school basketball over the weekend, the Batesville 8th grade team was the runner-up at the inaugural South Dearborn Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated Jennings County and Franklin County in pool play before falling to Shelbyville by nine points in the championship game.

Hank Bohman scored in double figures in all three games while Lane Higham, Isaiah Martin and Beckett Jones provided clutch shots and free throws on the day. Deacon Fledderman played a key role defensively. Several others made positive contributions on both ends of the floor. 

Batesville, now 3-2, is back in Versailles on Tuesday for a rematch against South Ripley. 

The Batesville 7th graders came in third in the South Dearborn Invitational. The Bulldogs knocked off Jennings County 40-21 in the first round but lost to Franklin County 45-36. Batesville topped host South Dearborn in the third-place game 40-28.

Logan Schneider lead the way in scoring for the weekend with 50 points; Nolan Gesell added 14; Jonah Heil had two points; Noah Bastin, five points; Jasper Johnson contributed 10 points; Henry Candelot and Drake Hohman each scored six points, and Abram Powner and George Jelinek both scored two points. 

The Bulldogs are now 4-1 on the season and are back in action Tuesday night at South Ripley.
