Each day, Hoxworth Blood Center needs to collect at least 300 units of blood and 40 units of platelets to meet the needs of patients in the Tri-State area. Once testing and processing are complete, the units are dispersed to over 30 area hospitals served by Hoxworth, where it is transfused to patients with a variety of medical needs.
