(Greensburg, IN) – A bicyclist was struck and killed while riding in Greensburg Thursday morning.
Police say a woman identified as 20-year-old Nyssa Campos of Greensburg was found unconscious in the travel lanes of Montgomery Road near Fleetwood Drive around 10:40 a.m.
Authorities say the investigation determined Campos was riding her bike on the walking trail and began to cross Montgomery Road when she was struck by a commercial vehicle, which responding officers were unable to locate when they arrived on the scene.
Campos was pronounced dead at the scene.
The commercial vehicle and the driver were eventually located.
Police say that driver, 37-year-old Johnathan Hayden of Indianapolis, is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The Greensburg Police Department was assisted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team, Evidence Technician, and Motor Carrier Division; Decatur County Communications; Greensburg Fire Department; Decatur County EMS, and the Decatur County Coroners Office.
