
Dane Dudley drove in four runs on one hit to lead Batesville past Franklin County 11-1 in five innings in the Class 3A baseball sectional at Jennings County on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Cayden Drake singled down the right field line, Noah Weigel laid down a sacrifice bunt, Ronan Post walked, and Dudley walked, each scoring one run.
Batesville plated five runs on three hits in the bottom of the third. Carson Schneider singled and drove in a run. Post singled home two runs. Dudley grounded out, scoring one run, and Brayden Maple singled, scoring another run.
Dudley smacked a two-run walk off homer to right field in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
Will Jaisle started on the mound for Batesville and allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked one in 3 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball.
Joshua Borgman finished in relief for the Bulldogs and did not give up a hit in the final 1 2/3 innings.
Blake Stephenson was the Wildcats starter and gave up four runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings. He also struck out one walked two.
At the plate, Stephenson and Kaden Welch each collected one hit for Franklin County.
Schneider went four for four from the leadoff position for the Bulldogs, who had 10 hits in the game.
BHS played error free ball in the field, and Alex Krekeler made the most plays with eight.
The Bulldogs improve to 20-5 and will take on host Jennings County in the sectional semifinal at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Franklin County Wildcats end the season at 9-14.
