“Vocal Showcase” – A Free Community Event On Friday Night

As part of their preparation for their Saturday exhibition performance and the upcoming show choir competition season, the Batesville High School Singers will unveil their 2025 competition set entitled “Music City, USA” with a free performance on Friday evening, January 24, at 5:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend to support the Singers and the solo performers selected to entertain during the event.

Celebrating Growth and Achievement

These past few years have been a period of remarkable growth and achievement for the Batesville Community School Corporation music programs.

  • Marching Band Excellence: In the ‘23-24 school year, the BHS marching band took a big leap and stepped into a more challenging competition level. Despite the increased demands, the group was invited to compete at the ISSMA Scholastic B State Finals only one year later. The group performed wonderfully and ended the day with a 10th-place finish.
  • BHS Choir Soars: The premier show choir, the Batesville Singers, has experienced over 100% growth in size, allowing them to compete at a higher level during show choir competitions. Additionally, in May 2024, these same musicians were in the “Sweet 16” of Indiana choirs. Qualifying for the Top 16 Choir in the state is a massive accomplishment as this competition includes all 682 schools in the state, regardless of enrollment.
  • Strong Foundation for the Future: The middle school music programs have experienced HUGE growth. There are now 225 students in the middle school participating in their band or choir. This will help ensure robust incoming freshmen classes in the next few years.
