Betty Lou Maples

Betty Lou Maples, 87, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was born June 27, 1934, in Versailles, MO, daughter of the late Theodore A. Brown and Viola (Garrison) Brown.

Betty worked as a Florist for Lawrenceburg Floral. She was a member of Greendale First Baptist Church; she taught Sunday school for 23 years and she had also served as a deaconess. Betty was instrumental in establishing the YES home. She volunteered at the mental health center, tutoring mentally handicapped children. Betty was an avid reader with a love of gaining knowledge.Betty also loved to travel with her husband prior to his passing. She enjoyed playing bingo, and she especially loved spending time playing with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Vickie Lea Whitham of Lawrenceburg, IN, Sandy (Chuck) Downey of Baltimore, OH, Thomas (Jody) Maples of Lawrenceburg, IN; daughter in law, Christi Maples of Lawrenceburg, IN; siblings, Jack (Shirley) Brown of Versailles, MO, Beverly Howser of Gravois Mills, MO, Jess Brown of CA; grandchildren, Christy Frederick, David Whitham, Jamie Maples, Karen Maples, Carra Darra, Josh Lowe, Jeff Lowe, Erin Hupp, Patrick Downey, Emily Tremain, & Sarah Maples; 23 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Viola; husband of 60 years, James Carl (JC) Maples; son, Douglas Maples, and several siblings.

Friends will be received Thursday, October 28, 2021, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Greendale, 45 Tebbs Ave, Greendale, IN.

Services will be held at the church on Friday at 11:00 am with Mark Tanner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
