Ben William McAdams Sr., of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on December 22, 2017 at Dearborn County Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1927 in Aurora, IN, son of the late William F. McAdams and Irene T. Withered McAdams.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII.

In his younger years, Ben helped his dad with plastering and construction work. He worked in the maintenance department at I&M power plant for over 25 years. He also did home repairs and sold cars for a local dealership. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora. Ben was strong in his faith and knew the Bible, of which he had several favorite Bible verses. Ben wrote poetry and had a natural flare for art, and often drew illustrations with his poetry. He enjoyed playing the piano, dabbling in antiques, and going to flea markets. He is a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge. Ben enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be missed by his family, friends, and church community.

 

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Joy (Blasdel) McAdams of Aurora, IN; Daughters, Lauri McAdams Eckstein of Lawrenceburg, IN, Amanda (Kelly) McAdams of Aurora, IN; Grandchildren, Kelly McAdams, Misty Eckstein Bonnlander, TC Eckstein, Brittany McAdams, Mackenzie McAdams, Neysa Hart, Irene Dornbach, and 13 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Father, William F. McAdams, Mother, Irene T. Withered McAdams, and son, Ben William “Billy” McAdams, Jr..

Friends will be received Wednesday, December 27, 2017, with visitation from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora, 215 Fourth Street, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at the church at 2:00 pm, following visitation, with Rev. Dana Bruce Stout officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
