Batesville Wrestling Shines at Regional

The Batesville High School Wrestling team had a stellar showing on Saturday at Richmond, with five wrestlers advancing to Semi-State. All five placed in the top 4, securing their spots and earning the Bulldogs an 8th place team finish.

Leading the charge was Max Amberger, who claimed the Regional Championship with two pins and a dominant 4-0 victory in the championship match. Not only did Amberger win his first regional title, but his second pin of the day also marked his 100th career pin, setting a school record. Additionally, his 33 season pins also set a new school record. Amberger moves to 39-2 on the season.

Freshman Carson Weiler made an impressive run, beginning his day with a 17-2 tech fall, ultimately finishing in 4th place and qualifying for Semi-State. His record now stands at 34-8.

Adam Brewer earned his second trip to Semi-State, securing a pin in the first round and a 13-7 victory in his 3rd place match. Brewer’s season record is now 35-5.

Alex Krekeler also advanced to Semi-State, scoring a first-round pin and finishing in 4th place, bringing his record to 13-6.

Lastly, Andrew Jones qualified for his second consecutive Semi-State appearance, earning a 3-2 decision in his first-round match and finishing in 4th place. Jones’ season record now stands at 25-12.

The Bulldogs now look ahead to Semi-State in New Castle, aiming to punch their tickets to the State Finals. Congratulations to all the wrestlers on their outstanding performances!
