BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville High School varsity and junior varsity girls volleyball teams opened their season on Saturday, August 14 with huge wins over Milan.
For the JV team, Annie Negovetich led the team with serving, going 16 for 18 from the line. Molly Meer led the team in assists with 6, and Kate Martin led the team in serve/receive. The scores for the two games were 25-10 and 25-18.
In varsity action, Batesvilles won 25-7, 25-17, and 25-19. Laney Walsman led the team defensively with 13 digs. Offensively, Shelby Westerfeld had 9 kills while Cayman Werner had 7. Some great serving was seen from Isabelle Westerfeld who had 6 aces and Maggie Wilson was 14 for 15 with 4 aces. Cayman Werner and freshman Ava Powner did a great job setting. Werner had 15 assists and Powner had 12 assists.
It will be a busy week for the Dogs: Monday, they travel to South Ripley, and Tuesday they will be on the road again taking on Madison Consolidated.
