Batesville Swimming Shines at Invitational

Isabel Raab, MVP/Swimmer of the Meet

The Batesville High School men’s and women’s swim teams delivered standout performances at the Lawrenceburg Invitational on Saturday, December 7.

The men’s team showcased determination, finishing fourth overall with key wins in the 50 Free by Matthew Lambert and the 500 Free by Ben Kuntz. Their strong effort left them just a few points shy of third-place Milan.

“For a team of six, I never imagined we’d finish that well,” said Coach McMullen. “Ben and Matthew stepped up to secure two event wins, while the rest of the team came together with outstanding relay performances. Their hard work continues to impress.”

Meanwhile, the women’s team, competing at full strength for the first time this season, secured their first victory at the Lawrenceburg Invitational since rejoining the meet in 2022. The win also marked the program’s first recorded victory since their inaugural season in 2002.

Leading the charge was meet MVP Isabel Raab, who swept all four of her events, earning gold in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Medley Relay, and 200 Freestyle Relay. Her standout performance was complemented by Sarah Bedel, who claimed victory in the 100 Breaststroke, and Cora Miller, who finished second in the 100 Fly.
