Batesville sweeps East Central in middle school volleyball Monday night

The Batesville Middle School 7th grade volleyball team played a solid all-around game to defeat East Central 25-13, 25-15.

The back row had excellent passing to set up the plays. The top passers were Isabel Meyer, Abby Miller, Payton Yorn, and Marley Denning.

The top hitters were Molly Gesell with 5 kills and Madi Dierckman with 2 kills. Jersey Trenkamp and Katie Wilhelm each had a kill.

From the serving line Jersey Trrenkamp and 12 points with 3 aces; Katie Wilhelm had 8 points with 4 aces; Madi Dierckman had 7 points with 3 aces; Ellie Walke added 4 points with 1 ace, and Jolene Kirkhising had 1 point.

The 7th graders are now 6-2 and travel to St. Louis Tuesday night.

The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball Team defeated East Central in 2 games – 25-16; 25-18.

The team served an impressive 98% for the match. Leading the way was Maddie Haskamp who scored 8 points with an ace while connecting on all 12 of her serves; Leigh Hertel and Caitlyn Fox were each 11 for 11 with 7 points including 2 aces; Mimi Smith earned 4 points, while Brooke Wilhelm and Alexis Gallagher chipped in with 3 and 2 points, respectively.

Brooke Wilhelm was aggressive at the net earning 5 kills and going perfect on all 9 of her spikes; Maddie Haskamp pounded 4 kills and had 2 great blocks; Sydney Campbell netted 4 kills, while Ella King added 3. Caitlyn Fox contributed 2 kills, and Ella Weber earned one in the front line.

The Bulldog 8th graders improve to 8-0.
