Batesville Splits at Lawrenceburg Tri-Meet

(Lawrenceburg, IN) – The Batesville Bulldogs swim teams turned in strong, well-balanced performances Tuesday night at Lawrenceburg, earning a first-place finish in the boys meet and a second-place showing on the girls side in a tri-meet against South Dearborn and the host Tigers.

The night opened with solid relay performances, setting the tone early.

On the boys side, Batesville’s A-relay of Matthew Lambert, Leo Obermeyer, Sam Richardson, and Ben Kuntz captured first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:59.26.

The girls followed with a strong showing of their own, with Batesville A relay placing second overall in 2:24.82.

In the early individual events, the Bulldogs continued to score consistently. Alexis Schiller led the girls in the 200 freestyle with a second-place finish (2:25.62), while Matthew Lambert added another runner-up finish in the boys 200 free. In the individual medley events, Jaden Basler placed third in the boys 200 IM, and Reillee Adams scored key points for the girls.

Sprint momentum carried into the 50 freestyle events. Batesville placed first and second in the boys 50 free behind Sam Richardson (26.79) and Parker Oldham (27.24), while Kate Fullenkamp and Gabi Alonso finished third and fourth respectively in the girls race.

As the meet moved into the final stretch, Batesville continued to deliver across all strokes. In the 100 butterfly, Alexis Schiller earned second place for the girls, while Leo Obermeyer matched that result on the boys side. The 100 freestyle featured another podium finish from Grace Copley, who placed third in the girls race, while Collin Vogelsang led the boys with a second-place finish.

One of the strongest events of the night for Batesville came in the 100 breaststroke. Matthew Lambert claimed first place in the boys race, followed closely by Tripp Hertel in second, giving the Bulldogs a one-two finish. On the girls side, Cora Miller added a second-place finish, with Solara Scheel also scoring for Batesville.

The backstroke events continued the scoring trend, with Ben Kuntz placing second in the boys 100 back and Lexi Harris earning third for the girls. The distance races closed the individual events in impressive fashion, as Samantha Adams captured first place in the girls 500 freestyle, followed by Cora Miller in second. Sam Richardson added another runner-up finish in the boys 500 free.

Batesville capped off the night with strong relay performances to close the meet, sealing the boys team victory and maintaining second place on the girls side. The Bulldogs’ depth, relay execution, and consistent scoring across events highlighted a team continuing to build momentum as championship season approaches.
