Batesville Planning Commission set to act on new zoning code

BATESVILLE, IN — After a lengthy process of working on the updates and modernization of various land use ordinances, zoning code maps, permitted use tables, and building/development codes, the City of Batesville is now ready to present the final product.

The Batesville Planning Commission is expected to review and vote on the new code on July 21 at 6 pm at Batesville Middle School.

The Planning Commission’s recommendation would then be forwarded to City Council for a vote at its August 8 meeting.

The most notable change will be the adoption of a new zoning code specifically for the downtown area.

The new updated manual and zoning map can be viewed on the city’s website batesvilleindiana.us.

Those who want to review the documents are urged to visit the city’s website. The download is large and requires additional time. However, documents can also be viewed in the city’s Building Department.
