The Batesville Middle School 7th grade volleyball team played tough and had some aggressive plays, but couldn’t hold off Milan falling 25-17, 25-19.
Hailey Hundley and Sarah Hunter both had good passing to set up the attack. Maci Smith had 3 kills and 1 stuff block. Riley Balser had 2 kills while Breauna Broshears and Miki Gutzwiller chipped in 1 kill each. Izzy Dierckman led with 6 service points, while Maci Smith added 5 service points. Breauna Broshears had 4 points and Miki Gutzwiller had 3 points. Carly Blanton chipped in 1 service point.
The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball team picked up a convincing win over Milan on Thursday evening. Scores were 25-16; and 25-12.
The team served with an impressive 94% efficiency to help secure the win. This was significant as it was an area of focus during Wednesday’s practice. Leading the way with 11 service points including 5 aces was Katie Wilhelm. Abby Miller earned 9 points in 12 good serves, while Madi Dierckman scored 5 points including 3 aces. Jersey Trenkamp knocked in 4 points including 2 aces, while Isabel Meyer scored 3.
The offense was up to the challenge with Molly Gesell pounding 7 kills including an outstanding slider hit to ignite the crowd. Maggie Jelinek contributed 3 kills, while Leah Meyer, Raegan Hixon, Ellie Walke, Chloe Miller, and Wilhelm earned 1 kill apiece at the net.
The back row play of Isabel Meyer, Abby Miller, Jersey Trenkamp, Payton Yorn, and Marley Denning was especially consistent in both serve reception and digs.
The team is now 6-1.
