Batesville Middle Schools Volleyball Visits South Ripley

From 7th Grade BMS Volleyball Coach Angie Ehrman:
The 7th grade traveled to South Ripley & came out ready to play with an 8-4 lead. But fell 16-25, 11-25.  Elsie Koehne had 1 kill and 1 block for a point. Leading servers were Ella Peetz and Zoey Mathews with 3 points each. Reese Richey and Vera Flannery each had 2 service points. While Elsie Koehne, Allana Herbert, and Adalyn Placke each earned 1 point for the Bulldogs. The team is now 1-2 on the season.

From 8th Grade Volleyball Coach Shelly Prickel:
The BMS 8th Grade Lady Bulldogs notched their first win of the season vs. South Ripley playing with great teamwork and energy. Scores were 25-22; 25-20.

Carly Blanton led the team at the service line scoring 9 points including 2 aces. In the second set, Hailey Hundley sparked the team going perfect on all 9 of her service attempts earning 7 points including 2 aces. Hailey Hundley’s string of 5 consecutive points early in the set forced a Raider time-out. Maci Smith contributed 5 points including 3 aces, while Breauna Broshears (4 points including 2 aces) and Lydia Niese (4 points with an ace) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Dogs.

The team’s setters, Miki Gutzwiller and Lydia Niese, did a nice job with set placement to initiate the offense. The front-line attack was led by Carly Blanton, Lydia Niese, and Maci Smith who each earned 3 kills at the net. Hailey Hundley and Breauna Broshears were both very consistent in serve reception and overall back-row play.

The teams will travel to Greendale on Thursday.
