Batesville Middle School Volleyball Defeats Franklin County

The 7th grade volleyball took a commanding lead with great service. The team served 98% for the night. Top servers were Zoey Mathews 10 points including 7 aces. Reese Richey had 8 points with 4 aces. Nya Moon had 7 points with 2 aces. Ella Peetz had 6 points with 4 aces. Vera Flannery chipped in 2 points while Adalyn Placke added 1 point.  From the front line Zoiee Carter, Reese Richey, Vera Flannery, Adalyn Placke had 1 kill each. The final scores were 25-5 and 25-13 for the win. The team is now 3-2.

From Coach Shelly Prickel:
The BMS 8th Grade Lady Bulldog Volleyball team earned their second win of the season playing 3 closely contested sets vs. Franklin County. Scores were 24-26; 25-19; 20-18. The team simply outlasted the Wildcats!

Lydia Niese paced the team scoring an impressive 18 points from the service line connecting on 22 of her 23 serves including 8 aces. Carly Blanton added 10 points including 3 aces, while Maci Smith and Miki Gutzwiller knocked in 4 points a piece. Lydia Niese also was the top performer in the front line earning 4 kills, while Maliyah Morton knocked in 3 kills at the net. Kenzi Lacey had 2 kills, while Breauna Broshears, Carly Blanton, Miki Gutzwiller, and Maci Smith all earned 1 kill for the match.

Amelia Vierling and Sarah Hunter were consistent passers in serve reception and coverage at key moments to help the team earn the win. The teams will travel to Jac-Cen-Del on Thursday. Keep working hard!
